The overarching aim of TEL-Map is to help establish a world-leading position for European stakeholders in technology enhanced learning. We do that by exploring new forms of learning, analysing all factors influencing them, and working with the stakeholders to raise awareness, develop and maintain global leadership, and explore their relevant futures through creating roadmaps.
TEL-Map will also examine the impact that has already been made by past TEL projects and the adoption of their results by different stakeholders, and will seek to identify the forces enhancing or blocking teh adoption and use of the results of research and development work funded by the EC.
TEL-Map will work towards these aims by identifying key players in their target areas and working with the stakeholders and their communities to find their current plans and longer term desired futures, and further to give them tools to navigate towards these futures.
The TEL-Map work has two strands. One is to map the state of the art within the area of technology enhanced learning; and work with the communities to create stakeholders' roadmaps. The other is to create awareness of European TEL and strengthen the global leadership of European TEL communities.
The TEL-Map web portal will provide an observatory for the development of technology enhanced learning, both in Europe and internationally. The portal will provide a meta perspective on previous and current TEL R&D work and engage stakeholders in sense making of the complex picture hidden in the data that the TEL-Map partners and portal tools will work on.
We will provide a meta-model for Dynamic Roadmapping and a Roadmapping platform to support Disagreement Management among the different stakeholders in TEL. TEL-Map will assist each TEL cluster/community and TEL stakeholders to co-develop multi-perspective, dynamic roadmaps for TEL that will provide insights on “new forms of learning“, and the “current”, “desired” and “emerging” situation of TEL in Europe. The results will be captured in a Portfolio of stakeholders’ Roadmaps, thus linking different views (multiple-perspectives) and continuous evolution in TEL (10 years horizon). This meta-model will provide the needed semantic interoperability between maps/roadmaps (for fundamentally new forms of learning), developed by different groups using different approaches, models of the world (eg schemas, ontologies), starting points, interests, goals and motives in order to increase their chances for a mutual understanding of different perspectives.
Every stakeholder with an interest in TEL is invited to help to develop a 10-year time-horizon, dynamic (evolving) portfolio of stakeholders' Roadmaps for “current”, “desired” and “emerging” TEL in Europe. We will use new semantic modeling techniques, and disagreement management approaches to map, capture, externalize, aggregate and contrast the views of TEL stakeholders.
To achieve the above, TEL-Map will develop methods and provide tools to make it easy for TEL projects and other TEL stakeholders to draw maps of present and future states, develop roadmaps, share relevant emerging knowledge and highlight agreements and disagreements. In particular, TEL-Map will leverage Mapping and Roadmapping as tools for:
collecting and promoting the results/impact of TEL projects, and for engaging stakeholders in TEL
providing the big picture in TEL and a platform and methodology for the interaction and collaboration between TEL communities
